Delhi court granted bail to Bollywood diva Jacqueline Fernandez on Tuesday in Rs 200 crore money-laundering case, involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekar.

Last week, the court deferred the order on the bail plea of the actress, and extended her interim protection till November 15.

Special Judge Shailendra Malik, who had earlier granted interim bail to Fernandez, said the order was not ready, according to a PTI report.

On Thursday, the court had reserved the order after hearing arguments from the lawyers appearing for the actress as well as the Enforcement Directorate (ED). During the arguments, the court questioned the probing agency on why the 37-year-old was not arrested so far.

The ED had opposed Fernandez’s bail plea, stating that she can escape the country easily. It also told the court that it has issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) on airports to stop the actress from leaving the country.

The Delhi court questioned the ED on adopting a pick-and-choose policy. “Why haven’t you (ED) arrested Jacqueline yet during the investigation despite issuing an LOC? Other accused are in jail. Why adopt a pick-and-choose policy,” the court had asked the probe agency.

The court had listed the matter for hearing the arguments on charges in the matter on November 24 and 25.

On September 26, the court granted interim bail to the actress on a personal bond of Rs 50,000.

Fernandez, who was summoned by the ED several times in connection with the investigation, has been named as an accused for the first time in the supplementary charge sheet.

The ED’s earlier chargesheet, which didn’t name the ‘Vikrant Rona’ star, mentioned the details of the statements recorded by Fernandez and Bollywood actress-dancer Nora Fatehi. After examination, both the actresses said that they got top models of BMW cars, the most expensive gifts from the accused the alleged conman.

ED chargesheet clearly stated that “during the investigation, statements of Jacqueline Fernandez were recorded on 30.08.2021 and 20.10.2021 Jacqueline Fernandez stated she received gifts viz three designer bags from Gucci, Chanel, and two Gucci outfits for gym wear. A pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, two pairs of diamond earrings and a bracelet of multi-coloured stones, two Hermes bracelets. She also received a Mini Cooper which she returned.”
