What Are the Different Types of Botox That Exist Today?

Did you know that the beauty industry generates $532 billion annually? Spurred on by social media influencers and sustainability, this industry has seen significant growth in the past decade. Botox injections are part of the beauty industry and there is more than one type.

Read on to learn about the different types of botox and which one is right for you.

What Is Botox?

Botox is an injectable neurotoxin that blocks nerve signals to muscles, causing the muscles to relax. These injections promote facial rejuvenation by reducing the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes and face. In addition to the beauty industry, botox injections are used to treat various health conditions, such as migraines and eye twitching.

What Types of Botox Are There?

There are several factors in determining which type is right for you, including the cost and how long the effects last. While all these types are often referred to as Botox, there are differences between these FDA-approved neurotoxins.

Botox

The most common of all injections, this type’s name is often mistakenly used for the other injections. On the market since 2002, Botox’s two main ingredients are plasma proteins and sodium chloride.

Some patients may develop an antibody over time that can resist Botox and make it less effective. It takes several days for the results to be visible and they last several months.

Dysport

WIth a faster diffusion rate than Botox, Dysport is ideal for larger areas like the forehead. The results can show up faster but have a shorter lifespan, although the length of its effects can last up to six months in some cases. Because it contains lactose, it cannot be used by patients with milk allergies.

Xeomin

Running about the same cost as Botox and Dysport, Xeomin is the one injection that does not have competing proteins. As a result, it doesn’t need to be refrigerated. it may take up to a week for the results to appear, but it has shown evidence of working in people who are resistant to the other injections.

Jeaveau

This is the newest Botox injection, gaining FDA approval in 2019. Unlike the other shots, Jeaveau is only approved for cosmetic use. It has the same makeup as Botox and also takes several days to see results. The advantage Jeaveau has over Botox is its price point, which is up to 30 percent less.

What Precautions Should I Use Before Getting an Injection?

Like any health or medical-related treatment, you should consult your doctor before beginning any Botox injections. As mentioned with Dysport, some of these injections may not be right for certain individuals. Always review the provider you are getting treatment from to ensure they offer consultations before service, as with beyouthfulco.com.

Are You Ready To Talk To A Provider?

Now that you know what Botox is and the different types of Botox injections, what are you waiting for? Speaking with a healthcare professional can help you determine which treatment is best for you.
