“Noida Authority had given a contract for drainage repair work near Jal Vayu Vihar. We have been told when labourers were pulling out bricks, the wall collapsed. It will be probed,” he added.

The incident took place at Jal Vayu Vihar in Noida Sector 21.

“Rescue and relief measures have been launched. Fire department personnel and police, including senior officers, are at the spot,” a police official told PTI.

Rescue operation is currently underway on war-footing, another official told IANS.

The authorities have employed a JCB-crane to remove the debris and two people have been rescued so far, IANS said.

Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief and directed the senior officers to reach the spot immediately and conduct relief work on a war footing.
