How to Design a Flyer in Minutes


Are you hosting an event that’s scheduled to be held soon? If so, you’re going to want to try to spread the word about it so that people show up for it.

Word-of-mouth marketing should be able to build up at least a little bit of buzz around the event. But you shouldn’t stop there. You should also think about designing a flyer for the event and getting it out there in the world.

If you would like to take this approach to marketing your event, you’ll need to start by learning how to design a flyer. It’s not that difficult to come up with a cool flyer design. But it can be a little bit confusing if you haven’t ever designed a flyer for an event before.

Start by Coming Up With an Objective for Your Flyer

You don’t want to just write out all the important information pertaining to an event on your flyer. You want to create compelling copy that will make people’s eyes light up when they start reading it.

Instead of simply saying, “Come to our dance!”, try something like, “Want to get down this weekend? Come bust a move with us!” It’s going to get a way better reaction from people and increase the chances of them showing up at your event.

Select the Right Colors for Your Flyer

When you’re working on designing a flyer, you don’t want to just use black and white. Although this might save you some money when you go to print your flyer later, it’s also going to lead to your flyer getting lost in the sea of other flyers that are likely to be positioned around it.

At the same time, you also don’t want to use 99 different colors on your flyer. That might make it very hard to read and prevent people from making their way through it.

Your goal should be to choose two or three main colors for your flyer. That’ll be enough to make your flyer stand out without making it look like a mess.

Tinker With Different Designs for Your Flyer

When you arrive at this stage of the flyer design process, you’re going to have everything that you’ll need to make your flyer come alive. The only thing that will be left to do will be to lay it out in the best way possible.

But whenever possible, you should try to have others look at the flyers you’ve designed so that they can provide some feedback on them. This feedback is going to let you know what is and isn’t working when it comes to your flyers.

If you ask ten people to look at your flyers and all ten of them like the same one, you’ll be in luck. It’ll indicate that this flyer will be the one that you’ll want to choose and use.

But even if this doesn’t happen, you should find that one or two of your flyer designs will get better feedback than all the rest. It’ll suggest that you should use one of these flyers.

You will want to ask people to tell you more than just which flyer they like the most, too. Additionally, they should recommend changes that you can make to each of your flyer designs to make them better than they already are.

As long as you do everything else that we’ve mentioned here, you should be left with a great flyer when you get to this point. The only thing left to do will be to hang it up.

You should look for places that get a lot of foot traffic and put your flyer up there. This will get your flyer in front of tons of people and make it more effective than it would be otherwise.

You should also aim to hang your flyer up at eye level so that it’s impossible for people to miss it. They’ll be able to stand in front of your flyer and get all the info they need from it without having to bend down or look too far up.

Outside of hanging your flyer up, you should also look for places where you can put it online. It’s very easy to post a flyer on social media or to send it out in an email.

The more places that you’re able to put your flyer, the more attention it’s going to get. It’ll make all the effort that you put into it well worth it, and it’ll give you every opportunity to bring people out to the event that you’ll be holding.
