Billionaire Elon Musk, who is set to buy micro-blogging platform Twitter Inc, spoke to rapper Kanye West after his recent remarks got him blocked on social media.

The ban first occurred on Instagram account of West, who legally changed his name to simply Ye last year, before it moved to Twitter. Later on Monday evening, the Tesla chief who calls himself a free speech absolutist, welcomed West’s return to Twitter by replying to a post by the rapper.

“Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!” Must replied.

In another tweet, the world’s richest man shared that he had a chat with West where he “expressed his concerns” regarding his recent tweet. Musk believes that West took his words to heart.

“Talked to ye today & expressed my concerns about his recent tweet, which I think he took to heart,” Must tweeted.

The rapper’s social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram were banned over the weekend and his posts that online users condemned as anti-Semitic were removed from the Internet.

On Friday, the 45-year-old rapper was locked out of his Instagram by Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. Before the ‘Runaway’ singer took to Twitter early on Saturday, the 45-year-old had his Instagram account suspended over a now-removed post in which he invoked anti-Semitic tropes, accusing a musician of being controlled by “the Jewish people.”

Meta on Saturday said it was imposing a temporary restriction the rapper from posting, commenting and messaging through his official Instagram handle.

When West moved to Twitter and started posting on Saturday – for the first time in two years, things started to heat up. The rapper’s first post on Twitter since 2020 was a blurry photo of himself singing karaoke with the Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg.

The tweet said: “Look at this Mark How you gone kick me off instagram.”

West then tweeted: “You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.” That post, in which he said he was not anti-Semitic, was removed by Twitter. His account was then locked, a Twitter spokesperson confirmed on Sunday.

West has previously also made erratic online posts. Earlier this year, he was suspended from Instagram for 24 hours after he directed racial slurs at comedian Trevor Noah. He has also went on a rant rampage over the Kardashians and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
