6 Tips on Early Pregnancy Care for New Mothers

Have you just found out that you’re pregnant? Congratulations! Whether you’ve spent months or years trying to conceive, there is nothing better than reading a positive result on an at-home test.

You’re in for a lot of bodily and life changes over the next 9 months. It’s critical to focus on early pregnancy care now to get prepared for later.

If you’re not sure where to begin, don’t worry. We’re here to help with 6 tips to keep you and the growing baby healthy!

1. Confirm Your Pregnancy With a Doctor

While an at-home test may say that you’re pregnant, it’s still necessary to confirm it. False positives are rare, but they can still happen. Talk to your doctor and take a test in their office to double-check!

While there, you might also get your first ultrasound. A professional, such as someone who took courses from scrubsce.com, can reveal how far along you are.

2. Take a Prenatal Vitamin Daily

Help your baby develop and stay healthy by taking a prenatal vitamin every morning. If you’ve been trying to conceive, you might already be taking one. But if you haven’t started, pick up a bottle as soon as possible.

A few things to look for in your prenatal are folic acid, calcium, and iron.

3. Maintain a Healthy Diet

In addition to a prenatal, you must also eat a better diet. Some of the best foods for pregnant mothers include leafy greens, whole grains, and salmon. As long as you’re eating well, you won’t have to worry about any unhealthy pregnancy weight gain.

4. Prioritize Rest and Relaxation

A significant aspect of early pregnancy care is getting enough rest. Stress isn’t good for your baby, so you must relax and keep cool whenever possible.

Intense mood swings and anxiety are common first trimester issues. Try to avoid letting them get you down, though. When it feels overwhelming, try talking to your partner or family members about it.

5. Decide Who and When to Tell

As soon as you find out you’re pregnant, you might want to tell everyone you know. Take a moment and pause before you make any official announcements, though.

Unfortunately, the first trimester is also the riskiest. There is a higher chance of miscarriage, so some women wait until they’re 12 weeks along before telling anyone. However, it’s a personal choice that’s completely up to you.

6. Do Research and Get Educated

When you’re expecting, there is an endless number of changes on the way. To better prepare, do as much research as possible! You can’t ever learn too much about your pregnancy and growing baby.

Books and online articles can provide a lot of information. You can also watch YouTube videos of new mothers sharing their experiences or ask the moms in your life.
